More about the School of Arts and Design

Duarte Cabral de Mello, Architect in Secil Architecture Award 1998, Secil edition: "By combating what he calls the architects' bag of tricks, each of Architect Vítor Figueiredo's projects presents themselves as a proposal to accommodate - by questioning them - the activities or life that serve as their programmatic pretexts. He proposes us spaces to inhabit poetically and not objects to catalogue in the confined and confining framework of some media-accredited trend".

Vítor Figueiredo, Architect in Secil Architecture Award 1998, Secil edition: "In the clearing of a pine forest with the ruin of the old Stº Isidoro Hospital as a "pre-existence", this building sought another identity and accepted the seduction of the beautiful and extensive pine forest. The gesture, which defines the project, began by being conceptually autonomous, almost anti-contextualist, not seeking the construction of a "site", but the qualification of a place".
